Charity

Every year I do the Avon Walk. A few months back I decided to organize a wine tasting party that would include an auction to raise money for the cause. I chose The Living Room as the location because it's proximity to the financial district for the after work crowd. The management was extremely helpful with all the organizing and the staff went above and beyond to help make sure the night was successful. Some of the staff even made donations themselves. The food was yummy, the wine was flowing, and the night was a HUGE success!!!! At the end of the night when I went to settle my tab for the party I was pleasantly surprised to find my bill far less than I expected, the owner had arranged for a portion of the bill to be taken care of. His donation made a big difference so that the cost wouldn't cut in to our profits. I will definitely be using them again next year for our second annual wine tasting night!!!!

I am a fan of the Living Room and go there frequently. Like the former reviewer said, service is not at its best on real busy nights (Saturday) when everybody is out there, but it is a real jewel any other night. Most of the time I can get a couch and chill with some real comfort food at reasonable prices with my friends. I had a bunch of friends in the dining room with a big party (12) and the only problem was that took time for everyone to decide what to order with all the great selections - especially the appetizers! The drinks are not watered down and they use name brands in the well. The staff is overall very friendly and competent. The giant TV's are great for watching the games. Try it for Brunch - it is a real score!

Comfy Restaurant

The Living Room in the North End specializes in seafood and martinis. The dining room is a typical formal setting, but the lounge area is host to the most comfortable seating area in a Boston restaurant (hence the name- Living Room). The big couches are the perfect place to get together with friends for one of this restaurant's great martinis. The lounge area is also the perfect place to catch the big game due to several great plasma screens that are constantly on. Brunch is served on Sunday, which means this might be the best host of NFL early games in the city.Unfortunately, the lounge area of the Living Room is far superior to the dining area and service. The entrees served for dinner have little imagination and the servers tend to ignore their customers. They say they can handle large parties- but expect to be ignored.

Interesting Concept, but Service Leaves a Lot to Be Desired

A quick walk from the Aquarium T station on the blue line and you arrive at a great, intimate restaraunt neatly called The Living Room. The idea of a sit down, get comfy kind of restaraunt is fabulous. Big couches surround coffee tables as you enter the dimly lit front room. Our larger party was seated in the back which was completely empty on a Wednesday night. The food was fabulous (the mac and cheese is a must!) and the drinks really were great, but a little pricey at $10.50 for a small martini. However, the service was horrific. This was a party of 15 and our waitress only stopped by twice. Once to get drink and dinner orders and once to drop of dinner and the drinks. There was no check up and certainly no refill of drinks. There was also a mix up in the bill and our waitress was again no where to be found.Overall the atmosphere is what makes this place!
