worst place i have ever lived

Posted by jessicadalziel on 8/18/2008

i just moved to the boston area, from michigan and i'm a tenat with copley. i was so excited to move out here to a new city and start my career fresh out of school. well the biggest pain in the butt, has been with copley. i seriously started an account with citysearch just to warn people about them. this morning i woke up to a huge cocroach in my shower - anyways i called the maintenance line and she instant said she is just an answering service and she'll eventually pass the message along. then i called the actual group and the woman literally shushed me on the phone by repeatedly saying "yea yea yea... " only to transfer me to someone i had no clue who. they are ridiculous. the only helpful people are the maintenance guys that come out to your apartment whenever. they are really nice and the only helpful people. one night the fire alarm went off on the hour, every 20 minutes for about 3 hours non stop and when i called they said they couldn't do anything. needless to say - if you can avoid them just please take my advice and look elsewhere - i have more confidence in craigslist than them. none of the people that work for them even live there - they live down the street. the front desk woman is the worst - she is very degrading and rude to anyone, even when i was there to sign the lease. i basically had one day to find an apartment/move, etc from the time i graduated until the time i started work and i have no family out here so i had limited options. i am moving by the time my lease ends. also - if you work with a broker and they lead you here make sure the information they are telling you is not misleading because they also will lie to you to get you to sign a check over, then when you sign the lease you learn the truth. be aware..

Stay well clear!

The Copley Group's management is notorious for it's lack of respect for tenants. I can speak first hand as a former tenant. In my time renting there, I saw several m!ce in my building (two in my unit), countless r0aches and know of 4 break-ins in a 3-year period (some relayed by neighboring tenants). The buildings are old, decrepit and have no A/C. You have no control over heating (and therefore hot water for your showers) and maintenance are lethargic and of poor quality. For what you pay you do not get what you should. There are many bad reviews for them over at apartmentratings{dot}com - check out: www.apartmentratings{dot}com /rate/MA-Boston-Copley-Finch -Management-Corporation.html Add to this no elevator, no washer/dryer in unit, lead paint everywhere, and absolutely no support from management once they get your John Hancock on that lease. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, I (eventually) did!
